one of the better beers i have had from these guys, a nice round malty english ale, sessionable wit such a low abv, and spiked with good coffee. i have long thought that this style would be perfect with coffee, but it always seems like no american brewers are making these anymore. the coffee is awesome in this, roasty but not super dark or bitter, more of a chocolate complexion than a deep charry one, which i think is better with these malts, which have a rich bread pudding complexion and a nice earthy english character. the beer has a lot of body for what it is and drinks smooth and mellow, slow even. the coffee gives it a nutty element and a warming heartiness, definitely more of a winter vibe for me than a spring one, but i guess its still winter in minnesota even this time of year, so it works. baking cocoa and almond and good espresso all come together well with the grain sweetness, a little less english yeast than i am used to in the style, but a balanced and delicious beer overall.
