Really nice flemish. Look isn't the best, but the rest of the important things are good. Subtle sour, with rich sour cherry and green apple. Buttery at the finish with a good mouth feel. Can't help but mention cola as well (probably because of the look). Full bodied, and isn't over powered by the sour. Not a massive pucker effect. Wish I was picking up on more of the scotch whiskey from the cask, but the wood is there. A tart delight. Very happy with it.

More 'wood' than 'red' – kind of a scuffed walnut color with a fair amount of haze and not much head. Smells pretty much bang on for a great Flanders red – sweet tobacco, sour cherries, blackberries, medicinal/plaster-like phenols, and hints of cola, chocolate orange, allspice, and vanilla Frappuccino.
Distinct fruit comes through more on the palate than on the nose, with lush, tart raspberry notes coming through in particular. Plenty of toasty, malty, woody depth is there to back it up, as well – there's tobacco, a bit of chocolate, and an old red wine prune-sherry thing going on. The more I drink the more the tartness manifests as a white grapefruit astringency, but in a good way, and the carbonation and crisp texture helps make the finish quite mouthwatering.
Another excellent offering from Wild Beer Co, on par with the Flemish greats.
