Now being brewed again under a different name "Hala Kolada" going to post it here since its the same beer and ABV
A - Pretty hazy not as hazy as the base with just a 1/2 inch of froth can to pint glass.
S - Very distinct from just the pineapple you get some nice milk sugars and shaved coconut. Maybe the base beer will not be the star of the show?
T - Well its a great combination I know how hard it is the make coconut incorporate with beer had plenty of Imperial Stouts use it taste like suntan oil but this is great! Sweet pineapple meets with coconut leaving a nice balance of sweet and tart this is excellent!
M - Very smooth pretty much what I expect from the fruit beer this made the mango version seem heavy

Overall this beer is hands down as described a Pina Colada flavored beer! I could totally drink a sixer of this and be happy!

A big thanks to the adder of this beer, woodychandler, for this beer. Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a bright yellow color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of coconut, some pineapple. Taste is the same as the aroma, but both the pineapple and coconut are much more pronounced, moderate sweetness. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is an interesting and highly refreshing beer.

Rivertowne Brewing Co. "Hala Colada"
12 FL. OZ. can, coded "10417194 1711:28"
$2 @ Giant, Havertown, PA

Notes via stream of consciousness: I had to try to build a head on this one but I eventually got a finger-thick cap of frothy then creamy white foam. The body is a hazy pale gold in color. The aroma suggests pineapple, skin and leaves and all, but there's also a little bit of coconut in the background as well. It's not terribly pleasant but it does remind me of the beach. The flavor is a different story, there's nothing odd about it, and it offer both pineapple and coconut in a very nicely balanced blend. There's some light golden malt to it as well though, it's not just a pina-colada malternative. Nor is it too sweet. It's sweetish, yes, but there's a very light bitterness there (under 10 IBUs I think) and some acidity that balances it. It's light-medium in body and gently crisp. It's refreshing to be sure, and certainly an interesting change of pace. I'd gladly drink a few of these on a hot day at the beach or out on a boat or golfing. In fact I'm going to see if I can get a few cases of this to take to parties this summer. So what have I missed? The head dropped to an average collar after a minutes but it continued to leave some very nice lacing that looks kind of like branchy coral. Overall I think it works where it could have been a real screw-up, and it's nicely balanced. Worth trying.

I picked up a mixed 12-pack of CANs at Shady McGrady's in Harrisburg during a recent visit. This CAN was among them & came from their production facility in Export, PA for inclusion in The CANQuest (tm).

From the CAN: "Ale with natural pineapple and coconut added".

Jeez-O, man, if I thought that the previous CAN was full, the Crack! of this one set me straight. It was so full that It was right up to the lip of the vent! 8=O I CANmenced a slow, gentle Glug into the awaiting glass & followed this up with a vigorous in-glass swirl. The resulting finger-plus of dense, foamy, bone-white head with decent was beautiful & left nice lacing in its wake. Color was a hazy Straw-Yellow (SRM = > 2, < 4). Nose had a LOT of coconut as well as a good bit of pineapple & I immediately thought of Evil Twin Brewing's IPA Kolata from the other day. Mouthfeel was medium. I (kinda)disliked that one because it was like Mama Bear's version - TOO sweet! This one tasted more like fresh pineapple juice with a slight tartness coupled with the sweetness of the coconut. I liked the balance that was struck in/with this one since it was more semi-sweet than sweet on sweet. I could fully taste both pineapple and coconut, but I was not getting overwhelmed with sugary sweetness. Finish was definitely semi-sweet, but the lingering aftertaste was coconut. A very interesting beer & if you CAN do a side-by-side with this one & IPA Kolata, I would ask that you do so & report back. It gets lonely being the sole reviewer.
