A bottle poured into a pint glass. Pour had a 1/2" white foam head with a clear golden yellow body. Scent has a roasted coffee note and a bit of typical golden ale. Taste matches well with a pleasant cold brewed coffee flavor dancing alongside the ale profile. Aftertaste has a slight bitterness from the coffee while the overall sensation is one of well roundedness. The rooster on the bottle is also excellent.

From the UPC code on the side, part of the date code is rubbed off but it reads: "12 21 21"
Appearance: The body is a medium gold color and it is hazy. There is a short fluffy white head with good retention. No lacing.
Aroma: It has a bit of a green pepper spicy aroma with a strong coffee scent.
Taste: Up front there is an earthy coffee flavor. Towards the middle it takes on a light hint of cocoa. The back of the mouth is more earthy coffee. There is a light metallic flavor that comes through in the aftertaste from time to time but it isn't that frequent.
Mouthfeel: It is light bodied and easy to drink. There is a light bit of a spicy bite and a little earthy bitterness.
Overall: It's a good coffee beer that is likely to appeal to anyone who enjoys coffee but might want something a bit lighter bodied. It is really easy to drink this beer. I could drink it again.

Parkway Brewing Co. "Cock a Doodle Brew Coffee Ale"
12 fl. oz. brown glass bottle, "PARKED ON 03/02/17" and sampled on 07/05/17
$1.67 @ Kroger, Virginia Beach, VA
Notes via stream of consciousness: Ahh, another golden coffee ale! I'm glad, for whatever reason I prefer them over darker coffee beers. Maybe because the coffee is clearer because there's no roastiness to muddle it. Anyway, it's mostly clear, just slightly hazy, and a golden amber beneath a finger-thick head of bright white that holds remarkably well and leaves some very nice lacing behind. The aroma is like fresh oily coffee beans with just a hint of malt, and a flicker of citrusy and floral hops. I almost wish the hops weren't there and it was just coffee, but then I imagine it might seem a little sparse. The hops are just a little frill to give it some decoration. Moving on, the flavor follows with the hops remaining, and it's not bad. They're light, and you still get the coffee, and in this case I can't imagine it without the hops because it would definitely be lacking. With the hops the coffee becomes a component of the beer whereas without them I think it would become a one-trick-pony of a beer. Moderately bitter but not sweet, it finishes mainly dry with citrusy notes that fade quickly followed by lingering coffee. Medium leaning medium-light on body and crisp with a standard carbonation level that softens as it warms. Really nicely done.

Poured from the bottle into a nonic pint glass.
Sharp but slightly hazy body color, of a simple tangerine orange. Nicely presented light retention head, managing a good solid three fingers, off white in color. Settles down quickly to a simple thin puck and collar. Decent looking ale.
Coffee aroma is nice and simple. Light roast with a touch of sweet malt, and not gimicky. Faint hint of orange like zest, hard to tell if that's hop or even the bean, but it comes off nice and inviting. Decent solid aroma.
Palate goes for simplicity. Very nice light orange flavor, almost hints at cream soda but stays away from a sugary mid palate. Light coffee zest and orange mixing with a simple malt backbone. Coffee angle even gets into creamy sensing flavors, almost hazelnut and vanilla, particularly on the finish.
Liking these coffee ales, fun and simple times.

Great coffee aroma. Good pour, nice smooth malty head. Taste was a little light with the slightest hint of a bitter finish. Very drinkable, would get it again.

L: Poured from a bottle to a pint glass. Had a golden yellow color and a slightly hazy consistency. There was a fair amount of foamy head that lasted a good amount of time. Average lacing.
S: A very nice aroma of coffee, light fruit, cream, and a hint of malt.
T: Like the aroma, there was a hint of malt, some minor citrus elements (lemon), a good amount of coffee (not quite enough), some cream, and maybe some spices. Not a bad flavor at all, but if there's a problem it's that it's not pushed far enough. It could have used a bit more oomph. Nonetheless, pretty tasty.
F: A solid amount of carbonation with a dry finish. Medium-bodied.
O: Definitely one the more fascinating takes on the cream ale style you're apt to see. Flawed, but drinkable.

A: Medium yellow in color with a slight haze, and a small white head.
S: Light coffee with cinnamon, and breakfast pastries. Light a slightly acidic and fruity cup of joe, and some lemon scone. Interesting.
T: Coffee flavor as well as a bit of citrus and bread. A nice combo, although odd. Like having a citrus biscotti and coffee in one sip.
M: Light bodied, with fairly high carbonation, and a somewhat dry finish.
O: Overall I thought the concept was odd, but in the end it works.

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass. Has a somewhat dark golden color. Not much of a head or lacing. Distinct coffee smell. Taste is a mix of coffee and citrus. Definitely worth buying again.

Golden brew with a slightly brown tinge and a white head that leaves a little lacing on the glass. Aroma surprisingly fruity and floral, but also with some coffee coming through; combination is almost like some liqueurs. Taste: a basic clean ale body with coffee also emerging clearly, but not becoming overly dominant - the balance is great. It's interesting to taste this after having dark, thick beers such as stouts made with coffee. This impresses one as clean and fresh, not dense, and the coffee blends well with the more typical ale malt and hops. Mouthfeel very clean, a lean slickness with a dry finish. Recommended.
