While I bought the other Hobbiton beer to take home with me in bottle form (500mL), I ordered this beer from the Green Dragon Inn at Hobbiton since it was not available in bottles to take home with me. This beer pours a very dark reddish brown, almost black hue with no visible carbonation and a creamy, khaki colored head. The head dissipates fairy quickly to an ultra thin lacing that is retained, but is not much to talk about. 3.25/5 The aroma is very much like a stout in that it is centered around chocolate, coffee, vanilla, and dark roasted grains. A bit of dark wheat bread comes through along with a grassy hop profile. The aroma is really quite enticing. 3.75/5 The flavor is somewhat subdued but key notes can be pulled out. These are a very light toffee, milk chocolate, cold pressed coffee, light vanilla, and a very light leather. A bit of grassy hops come through but not much. The bitterness from the hops only slightly off sets the roastiness, and almost umami-like, profile of the malt. The bitterness does not linger on the palate. 3.5/5 A light carbonation tickle sets in right when this beer hits the tongue and leads into a very watery experience that is thirst quenching, but feels like you have not had anything in your mouth. This beer is very clean in terms of mouthfeel. 3.25/5 As with the other Hobbiton beer, the novelty is excellent for this brew and I'm happy that I ha the chance to try it and say that I had a beer in Hobbiton in the Green Dragon Inn. However, this is not a beer that I would return to. 3.5/5
