During my wife's and my recent beer/wine/triathlon vacation in NZ we decided to stop into Good George for some brew and pizza. Between my wife and I, we had several of their offerings in a single sitting since we had nowhere else to be.
This beer pours a orangish amber color that is clear with moderate carbonation and a creamy, off-white head that dissipates slowly to a rocky layer with a neck that is retained. 4/5 The aroma is very heavy on the hop aromas and very light on the malt side of things with notes of grapefruit, light pine resin, and citrus peel. There are undertones of candi sugar and sweet caramel, as well as a touch of grainy bread. 4/5 The flavor profile is, as with the aroma, centered around the hops but the malt does come out a bit more here. Candi sugar, caramel, toffee, and white bread leads things off, showcasing the malt before transitioning to a light peppery spiciness, grapefruit, and pine resin. The bitterness is moderate to heavy, although not excessive by any stretch of the imagination and lingers for quite some time after swallowing. 4/5 This is a medium bodied beer that has a light carbonation burn up front that leads into a significant drying sensation and a lingering dryness that sticks around for quite some time. 4/5 This is a beer for hop heads right here. The hops really dominate the palate and nose, while being just sweet enough to not become overpoweringly bitter. Very good brew here. 4/5
