Truth be told, I figured this was a lost cause...
We purchased this black-waxed 750ml bottle in late summer 2011 (Bottle #5 of 46, per the label). It was 'rediscovered' on a cellar-clearing expedition a couple weeks ago, promptly placed in the fridge, and opened/consumed on Sept. 19, 2012... so, yeah, one year late. 2 pints (shared with my wife) over dinner.
A: Straw/golden 'wheat' color, hazy. Big fluffy/foamy white head, sturdy & crackly. Pretty lace in sticky globs, a cobwebbing sheen elsewhere. A tiny bit of dark fallout, not surprising in a beer 1+ year old.
S: Wheaty/grassy scent with a fruity tartness - pungent and lemony! Very good strength, a slight metallic twinge.
T: Sturdy tart flavor in a dry and grassy mouthful of wheat. As in the aroma, juicy and lemony. Good 'sourdough' backbone, a cracker-dry pale malt. Hint of grass and spice. Tasty and balanced.
M: Refreshing, clean, vinous, fruity. Bright and effervescent!
O: I'm not in the habit of reviewing year-old beers, but this was a definite surprise - worthy of a review and the accolades that come with it. The result of a year of aging is a very nice, lightly-soured wheat... whatever bugs were in this bottle have been having a good time. As summer draws to a close, this was a beautiful beer by which to end it.

Poured into pint glass during Portland Mighty Mites small beer festival~
Poured with very light head, decent lace, good carbonation, golden hue with pale highlights.
I smell no Saison yeast... oddly enough. More wheat and grain aromas coming through. Pretty straightforward. On the palate it's mostly wheat and grains, some sourness, but again, no Belgian yeast flavors or aromatics coming through. But it is pleasant enough, though simple, on the palate. Finishes short and simple with a nice balance.
This was a refreshing beer that was really average in most ways. It didn't really present me with any characteristics of a Belgian farmhouse ale or Saison (they mentioned using Saison yeast). Overall decent but nothing to write home about. But I liked the effort and will be looking forward to tasting other beers in their lineup soon.
