La Cabra Brewing Co. "Aleatory Series #1"
on tap @ The 19th Annual Manayunk Craft Beer Festival
Notes: Pinkish body with an orange cast beneath a short head of bright white foam. Limited head retention and lacing. Aroma of fruit pulp and raspberry over light malt. The flavor is sweetish then tart, and the raspberry and oak seem to see-saw back and forth before finishing mildly acidic and dry with some mild residual oak. Lots of raspberry! Very mildly funky underneath the fruitiness; really a rather straightforward fruit beer except for the addition of the oak. Medium bodied with a moderate fine-bubbled carbonation. Nicely done and well worth trying.

Bottle from the brewery.
Bright red color, cloudy and effervescent, thick pink-white head and lacing that lasts forever. Fresh raspberries and toasted grain in the nose, a little soapy. Taste: tartness is very low-key, more of a basic fruit beer, but lots of fruit...fresh raspberry everywhere, seedy; dry toasted grains, mineral, chalk, crisp oak. Light mouthfeel, a bit watery. Not bad overall.
