Solid American porter. Great aroma of chocolate and slight american hops.

Head. A great deal of it. I mean, I poured my first glass as all head. After letting it die down I tried again. Head. After about ten minutes of this I stopped and tried to finish off the rest of it straight from the can. EXPLOSION.
What to take from this? It may not be good for aging, or maybe there's major batch variation.
I hope its just batch variation, because I found it to be pretty tasty.

12 oz can poured into tulip glass.
Appearance: dark red almost brown bodied beer with almost 2 full fingers of head resulting from a hard pour. Drops down to a thin cap and thick lacing on the side of the glass.
Smell: Very chocolately malts and hint of those bready and caramel type malts of an amber ale. Very light amount of roast, but its there. Smells really nice.
Taste: Little bit of a let down, but well above average. If the beer tasted exactly like it smelled I would really like this beers flavor profile substantially more. The beer starts out malty and slightly sweet with light roast, chocolate notes, hint of caramel. Slightly nutty and mild hop bitterness that is grassy and citrusy.
Mouthfeel: medium bodied beer with low carbonation. Creamy body and pretty drinkable as well. Not much after taste. The beer is pretty clean.
Overall: Good beer this newer CO brewery did a decent job of brewing what they were going for. Definately a hybrid of 2 different beer styles a porter and a hoppy amber ale is what I would guess them to be.
