Hazy orange-tan color. Lots of medium sized bubbles on the side of the glass and a steady stream of smaller bubbles rising from the bottom. Poured a thin head that dropped back to a skiff across the top after a minute. Very small amount of lacing above the head.
Strong mint family scent blended with something vegetable I couldn't identify. Swirling the glass kicked up a bit of barnyard that quickly disappeared.
Tastes like a second generation pot of mint tea - the mint is mild but more tea-like flavors are coming out of the leaves (or hops). There is a touch of malt (surprising for a wheat beer) and yeast flavors showing up. Slightly sweet and bitter flavors show up mid way through. I couldn't taste either of the watermelon or cucumber that are supposed to be in there. The aftertaste is mostly the tea and hoppy bitters.
Sharp tongue tingling as it foams up. Has a medium body.
I was really worried that the mint I smelled was going to be excessive and ruin the overall experience. The watermelon and cucumber seemed to show up only as some residual sweetness. The black tea (from either the mint or the hops) tied together both the mild malt and mint. For a change, the barnyard didn't show up in the flavor. This won't be a regular beer for me, but it was nice to try at least once.
