Saucony Creek Brewing Co. "Kutztown Golden Bear"
$10/32 oz. crowler @ Saucony Creek Brewing Company + Gastropub on 09/28/2019 and sampled on 09/29/2018
Notes via stream of consciousness: It's poured a slightly hazy golden body beneath a finger-thick head of creamy white foam. It's a little odd that it's hazy being a lager, but OK. The aroma is limited but you get some floral, softly citrusy, spicy, and lightly grassy hops over grainy malt. The flavor follows exactly. It's basic but it's clean and well-balanced, although I could certainly stand a little more bitterness and some extra hops for both flavor and aroma, but with this being a "college beer" I guess they don't want to go too far out on a limb. In the mouth it's medium bodied and crisp. The head retention was good and the lacing adequate but the lack of clarity throws it off. As a basic quaff it's not bad, you could certainly drink a lot of these if you wanted to, but neither is it particularly enticing, and I'd probably become bored with it beyond one.

On tap at the brewery.
A - Beautiful crystal clear golden color with dense, white lacing with light carbonation.
S - Light golden honey malt with delicate graham cracker earthy citrus.
T - Nice honey malt from start to finish. Midway through earthy citrus pokes through building momentum for a strong, bitter, piney citrus finish. Nice lingering moderate pine.
M - Big medium body with lots of carbonated pricklies and a dry finish.
O - A very solid Pils. Recommended.
