Picked up this beer from Gary's in Wayne recently as I hadn't had anything from Saucony Creek in quite some time. I almost thought that this would be a dessert beer or a Milkshake IPA but indeed, this was a Fruit and Field beer that was quite easygoing and sweet, which made it straddle the stylistic line, so to speak!
This had a decent pour to it, as it was bright and golden like a mass-market beer - even down to the everlasting carbonation in the form of fine bubbles. Not a lot of head topped this off but it held it's own as there was only a bit of a ring of rocky lacing near the top of my pint glass. Loads of tangy lime, citrus, and creamy lactose in the nose as the taste was on par with the aroma. Not your typical fruit and field beer, there was enough sugary milk, hint of hops, and brightness to separate it from the rest while the heavier vanilla notes and lip-smacking stickiness emerged as I finished this off.
Not a lot of booze in this as it would have been easy to crack another one of these, had there been one around here. Canned on 6/2 with "CITRUS GOT REAL" underneath that (ha!), there wasn't any sediment to be seen here as it felt fresh as could be. This was a fun beer that was better than most that I've had of this style, although this was almost in a category by itself. Grab some key lime pie and cool whip topping to pair this with, as both would make for a lovely nightcap!
