An ode to the haze that runs through the Southern Appalachian Mountains. This juicy, hazy IPA is heavily dry-hopped with a proprietary blend of new-age hops delivering the perfect balance of hop aromas and notes of tropical fruit.

Hopped w/ Simcoe & Citra.

From a mixed 12 pack of 12 oz cans at a North Carolina supermarket. Fresh beer—expires 3+ months in the future. Decanted into pint glass. Opaque, deep yellow in color with 1/4 inch head that dissipates to thin lacing. Odor is pineapple and a really weird off-putting transient aroma of OFF insect repellent. Taste is bitter pineapple on the front of the palette with a lingering alcohol after taste. I like the mouthfeel and the carbonation which are appropriate for the style, but the flavor and aroma is slightly off putting.

12 ounce can into tulip glass, enjoy before 2/7/2025. Pours very hazy, nearly opaque, golden orange color with a 2 finger fairly dense and fluffy white head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a small cap that lasts. Dense foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big red grapefruit, tangerine, peach, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, berries, citrus peel/zest, wood, peppercorn, pine, wheat, white bread dough, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Taste follows with big red grapefruit, tangerine, peach, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, berries, citrus peel/rind, wood, peppercorn, pine, wheat, white bread dough, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Medium pine, citrus rind, herbal, woody bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; balanced creamy/bready malt and sticky/resinous/rindy hop mouthfeel. Lingering resin dryness, with minimal hop astringency. A fair bit of hop oxidation, but not as bad as the Long Leaf IPA I previously had in the pack. Very juicy and dank balanced Citra/Simcoe hop profile, with a nicely soft wheat/oat malt backbone. Minimal warmth of ABV or hop burn at 6.6%.

12 oz can served in a Belgian snifter where it displayed a hazy, pale golden body with a good white head. (Revisited and revised in September 2024 with a 12 oz can fresh from the Brevard Ingles Market.)

Aroma. Fruity with some off-notes of burnt rubber. (None in 2024).
The off-notes are present (but not in 2024) but much fainter in the dank (and fruity) flavor.
