Poured from a pint can into an IPA style glass. Full, cream colored head, 3 fingers deep with good lacing. Light amber colored body. Not much on the nose. The first sip reveals the smoothness of the 'milkshake' aspect of the beer, usually from added lactose. I could not taste the matcha latte. Some bitterness but more in the vein of the hops. This is the second 'milkshake' IPA I have had, and other than the smoothness I haven't been impressed by the flavors.

Canned on 8/8/18

Pours a cloudy straw with a finger and a half of frothy white head; solid retention with a nice layer of froth left on the surface to go with plenty of soapy lacing. 4.25

Aromas of light peach, mango, and prickly pine; balance of citrus and herbal tones; very light, but smooth.

Taste brings a soft, herbaceous, and piney hop bite upfront with some citrus to follow; I’m getting tangerine and orange zest mostly. Hints of lactose on the finish. A bit understated, but the profile is smooth and nicely put-together.

Mouthfeel edges toward full-bodied, with a fleeting thinness pushing a hoppy spark through on the palate in favor of outright creaminess; medium carbonation and a semi-dry finish.

I’m willing to guess this one suffered a fair bit from its 2+ months in the can, as the overall structure of the beer is rather enjoyable. However, I couldn’t get much matcha, and while it’s likely a difficult element to integrate into a beer, it’s absence was disappointing nonetheless. When all’s said and done, though, I’ll still gladly hold out hope for the (higher) quality of fresher Thimble Island IPAs.
