On tap @ North Park tasting room. Poured into 8 oz glass
Brewer calls this a Peanut Butter Russian Imperial Stout
DARK brown, slight red at the edge. Thinnest of heads that maintained throughout.
Smell is peanut butter and caramel with slight coffee as it warmed.
Sweet Peanut Butter on the front with some bitterness. Coffee on the back. No indication of the higher abv.
Slightly carbonated, smooth, similar to other quality RIS's I've had
Overall a outstanding flavored RIS. The peanut butter is just apparent enough to enhance the beer without dominating. This goes great with slightly sweet (powdered sugar, nutella) Belgian waffles, and probably other desserts as well. Hopefully the brewer chooses to make this a more permanent offering as sweet ( vs spicy) reasonably priced ( $18 or less) RIS seem to be in short supply.
