Review #1431
I wanted a hazy IPA to enjoy this beautiful summer night. I went to my Tap-N-Fill and saw this beer. Belching Beaver has produced average beers so far that I have tried. The beer is 44 degrees and served in a pint glass. The pour produced a two-fingered head. The white foam of the beer is airy and creamy. The head dissipated somewhat quickly and left little lacing on the glass. The color of the beer is SRM 6, flaxen with a golden hue. This beer is not cloudy.
What I first smell is oranges, floral esters, biscuit, grapefruit, and mango. Nosing further, I detect honey, grass, earthiness, bread, and a touch of resin.
The flavors in beer are honey, grapefruit, oranges, orange peel, biscuit, mango, pineapple, earthiness, a hint of resin, bread, floral esters, and pineapple.
The mouthfeel of the beer is somewhat astringent and dry.
The body of the beer is medium, medium carbonation, and a medium finish.
This is an average beer. The brewery says this a New England IPA I want the juicy flavors from the hops. I taste orange and grapefruit, but it is not defined. The malt backbone is sturdy and could hold a bigger hop profile. Average beer just wanted more from it.
