After 9 glorious years you'd think we'd run out of ideas for beers, but you'd be wrong. Our 9 Year Anniversary beer, a unique sipping brew with the distinctive nose of a well-crafted bourbon is silky smooth, like rich flowing caramel. We also added a pinch of salt to balance the roasted coffee notes and chocolate-like malt character of an Imperial Stout. It’s so good, you’ll tell anyone trying to get their grubby paws on it, “Sling Yer’ Hook!”

Copenhagen 9/6 2024. 50 cl bottle from Meny, Vermlandsgade, Kbh. S. A Beaver in an orange suit smoking a pipe on the label.

Pours opaque dark brown with a big beige head. Bubbly. Disappears more or less after a minute. No lacing.

Aroma is intense with a sweet and bit candy-like odor of malts and alcohol. Sweet chocolate, salty caramel, brown sugar in abundance and dark alcohol.

Light carbonation.Rather thick, oily, viscous, soft, a little sticky, flat texture.

Flavor is intense with a strong and a bit heavy sweetness followed by a medium strong bitterness. Aftertaste is bitter with a notable sweet undertone. Lingering. Finish is rather dry with a touch of boozy caramel.

Sweet and boozy bomb with fine bitter aftertaste.

I really enjoyed this Barrell Aged Imperial Stout. Aroma and taste were excellent. I'm going to get some more of them while I still can here in Texas.

Pours black with a three finger head. Aroma is caramel, a touch of salt, bourbon profiles and coffee, though there is no coffee in it. Chocolate can also be detected. Taste follows exactly, with the bourbon less pronounced. Sweet is offset by the alcohol. The profile feels more in the front of tasting and diminishes quickly. Another review mentioned creme brulee, and I can taste that as well. This is Belching Beaver's 9th Anniversary beer.

Pours black with a dark tan head that dissipates quickly with minimal lacing.

Taste has sweet malt (not too sweet) up front mixed with caramel and dark milk chocolate. Salt is present along with coffee and the barrel influence. The alcohol is very well hidden. Nice.

This is Belching Beavers' 9th Anniversary offering.....Barrel Aged Imperial Stout brewed with Sea Salt & Caramel Flavor....lets see what we have here!

A- Love the artwork on the label....a pipe smoking beaver with a hook for a hand! The beer itself comes out of the bottle with a thick consistancy....somewhat oily/syrupy in texture, and provides a solid, dense and creamy looking caramel colored head....this does not retain very long, settling quickly into a patchy film of foam over the liquid. I cannot see the carbonation in this extra dark shaded brown elixir, however when giving a gentle swirl, one can notice a creamy wave of bubble streams rising to the top. The lacing is modest at best, leaving behind an oily looking film and only a handful of small circular clumps sticking to the inside of the tulip glass. Overall a decent, but not overly impressive looking stout.

S- This has loads of sweet robust caramel/toffee, milk and dark chocolate liqueur, vanilla, creme brulee custard and a warming sweet bourbon....WOW! Underlying aromas of charred barrel, wafer, heavily toasted dark malts, and dark roast coffee beans. It balances out in the nostrils after a few sniffs, but it is sweet and savory overall!

T- Well this is most definitely a sipping beer, as the bourbon infused alcohol is quite heavy, but it is smooth. Flavors that follow the aromas include dark caramel/toffee, cooked brown sugars, vanilla, dark/milk chocolate, sweet oak, sweet bourbon and cream. I also get a delightful butterscotch flavor, like baking chips in terms of the sweetness and creaminess.....everything is balanced out by muted coffee, charred barrel and Earth. The finish lingers on with a blend of saltiness....I didn't really get the sea salt until after the swallow, which makes itself known, and drys out the palate enough to warrant another sip. Excellent!

M/O- Medium/full bodied stout and the carbonation, as it appeared, is wee tight, velvety, and allows the flavors to coat the palate well, to get the full experience. I can see this pairing well with, as I smelled earlier, a creme brulee dessert, or perhaps a butterscotch ripple ice cream. With this said, I have no issues enjoying this on its' own, as it holds up more than well as its' own dessert so to speak. Drinkability is average in my opinion....I can and will enjoy this bottle, but wouldn't want another one right afterwards. Another exceptional brew by Belching Beaver....cant wait for the big 10!!
