a mexican dark lager, we should have a category for that but we dont. really good beer, sweet and nutty with a lot of malt depth for its lower abv, but also real drinkable, hearty in the right ways but still light overall, flavorful and fresh tasting, a nice food beer, and if you like beer at all, you should also enjoy this one, a pretty middle of the road and agreeable lager on the whole. deep amber to chestnut colored brew with nice clarity and some shine from the tap, an average off white head on top, looks right on, a shade deeper and redder than many. the nose has hints of almond and hazelnut to me, maple and toffee without it being super sugary, light almost woodiness too, baked bread and bagels, and some fairly prominent lager yeast character too, european to me a little bit, lots going on here. the flavor is nice as well, nutty malts, the right amount of sweetness, molasses, dark bread, autumnal vibes too, acorns and figs and that kind of thing, fuller medium body, long on the palate, love the yeast character, the linger, and the smoothness overall. really well done beer, should do well for them, i was glad to encounter this one. been awhile since i had a new one from these guys, and this really hit. very well made in a style that doesnt often fire me up much...
