2021 blend. a blended stout that was aged in barrels for up to 24 months before being conditioned on 400 pounds of coconut and a couple pounds of Madagascar vanilla beans. Tons of bourbon, dark fruit, chocolate and more await you in every sip of this complex beer.

poured from a 16oz crowler into a snifter. pours an oily, jet black with the slightest bit of mocha-colored foam. foam disappears and never returns for the remainder of the pours. on the nose i get sweet chocolate-covered coconut balls dipped in bourbon. the tastes presents more of a vanilla frosted chocolate cake flavor with hints of coconut sweetness. the barrel, however, ties it all together, never distracting from the adjunct additions - instead it compliments them perfectly. a slick, full mouthfeel with a nice alcohol burn at the end to once again cut the sweetness of the vanilla and coconut a little bit. this is tremendous. Triptych should be damn proud of themselves on this one. glad i was able to try it.

2020 & 2021 side by side draft pours at the brewery.

2020- Nice balance of vanilla, chocolatey base stout, coconut & lighter barrel notes. The booze is felt, but not detected while drinking this 15% stout. Very nice. Happy that it’s not pastry sweet, but nicely adjuncted. This one has better balance than 2021. I think the 2021 blend will get where this stout is with a little bit of time.
Score: 4.70

2021- Balanced nicely, but slightly more bourbon punch & stronger adjunct flavors than 2020 with coconut being stronger than the vanilla. Again I really appreciate that this isn’t pastry sweet. Same heftiness in the mouthfeel as 2020. A little bit of time between three and six months should get this stout to drink perfectly for my tastes. The stout should round out the edges and balance it without losing the flavors of the bourbon, vanilla, & coconut.

General observations about both vintages of forces beyond our control- this beer is very nicely adjuncted. The coconut and vanilla are spot on and 100% authentic tasting; nothing artificial or fake in the flavor profile of these adjuncts. This beer drinks like a lighter ABV stout, but it is pretty hefty in regards that both vintages that are over 15%. This Stout is a serious home run for Triptych brewing company and I really enjoy it a lot. I tried getting a can of last year‘s batch and was not successful. This was definitely worth getting a hold of and the wait was well worth it. Added bonus that when I was picking up my 4pack at the brewery they had both years on draft! Fun to taste both years side-by-side at the brewery. Triptych runs a nice taproom and bartender is knowledgeable and friendly. Great experience there.

Absolutely amazing beer from triptych. The best beer they have ever made and would rival almost anything out on the market. Put against coco vibes and was right there. Amazing mouthfeel and the right amount t of sweetness. Need to be careful with the abc because you can’t taste it.

This is an amazing BA stout. Pours jet black, light tan head, lightly carbed, lacing to the glass. Huge coconut aroma and flavor. The coconut is just beautiful on this. Medium to heavy viscosity and barrel. Everything came out perfect on this. ABV was estimated in the 16+% range and you'll feel every bit of it after this beer. For being that high in ABV it is dangerously drinkable. That gets said a lot about beers, but this is legitimately true with this one.

It's one of my favorite beers of 2020 and one of, if not the best beer Triptych has brewed to date.
