Brewed with Weyermann Beech smoked malt from Bamberg, Germany. The strong wood-smoked aroma gives way to a rich malty and smoky depth as you savor your pour.

From a 16oz can. There's a date on the can, but it is unreadable. It has been sitting in my fridge since March, or so.
Clear looking beer and golden in color. There's a bit of carbonation bubbles rising in the glass. There's a 1 finger white head to this beer that has somewhat poor retention. There's a bit of lacing on my glass.
There's a good hit of smoke in this beer, and I am enjoying it. The smoke has a bit of sweetness to it, which is interesting to me.
Ok, the beer has a nice smoke flavor. This smoke flavor does last throughout the flavor profile. There's also a sweetness to the flavor. It seems like it is part of the smoke and I have to wonder what type of wood they used to smoke the malts? There's some cereal grain notes that also show up in the flavor profile.
The body feels great. It has a nice depth for a beer that is 4.9%. Very smooth, and the feeling from the smoke does linger in my throat.
Well, this got missed in my fridge for a while, but I would say it has held up very well. A very delicious beer.

This is definitely a Rauchbeir. On tap at the brewery.
A: Pours a brilliantly clear copper/orange color. A dense white head forms with excellent retention and plenty of lace left behind.
S: Oh, that smoke is up front and center. Meaty with pale biscuit like malts. I would like to have a bit more nuance with the malts, but that smoke is so good, it doesn't matter.
T: Again that smokey meaty flavor is up front. Some pale malts, baked bread and even a bit of spicy character comes through. The smoke boarders on astringent for me, but doesn't exactly get there. It lingers on for a long finish as well.
M/O: A medium to fuller body. Especially for the ABV. At first crisp carbonation. Which becomes ultra soft and smooth as this breaths. I can come back to this a lot, really well done for the style.
This might be my favorite American made Smoked/Rauchbier. I haven't had a chance to try Riggs version yet, as the timing is never right when I come up and visit. Though this is excellent, glad that the two breweries are tackling this style.

Appearance: Pours a clear golden color capped by a one finger head that slowly fizzes away; a few speckles of lacing
Smell: Toasted bread and caramel with a hint of lightly smoked malt
Taste: Toasted bread and caramel forward with only a hint of smoke emerging; earthy bitterness, through the middle, with the finish leaning slightly sweet
Mouthfeel: Light to medium body with moderate carbonation
Overall: A twist on an Oktoberfest but the flavors aren't really doing it for me; to be honest, I am not a big Oktoberfest fan so ymmv
Thanks, falloutsnow, for the opportunity

16 oz can born on 10/9/24 into a dimple mug.
L: SRM 4 pours a clear caramel Amber color with fairly steady carbonation, a pillowy soft 1/2" white head that has good retention down to edge foam, light antique random lacing.
S: Smokey earthy fruits, malty, an apple note with warming, distant leather.
T: Lightly sweet wood smoked malts, a complex grain structure, distant yeast, a short-lived hoppy/fruity note in the center, finishes clean, smoke lingers throughout. It has a bready note at the end.
F: Very gently brisk then a smooth medium-bodied feel with a medium length lightly drying finish.
O: The base beer doesn't have a lot of depth other than the fairly heavy and very tasty balanced smoke feature but overall it is very nice tasting. Pleasantly easy to drink. It is excellent in its style.

I got a can of this beer from my good friend and old neighbor from the 'Wego. It poured a clear golden with no head and no lace. The scent had bold smoked notes. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with subtle smoke flavor throughout the draw. The mouthfeel was medium in body and had good carbonation. Overall it is a good beer.
