Picked up during my turn playing 3B during the College World Series in Omaha since I love port, barleywines, & beer. And baseball. If I could get a job doing all those things at once, hmmmm.
The pour couldn’t be different than the black-stout-barleywine we had last night, more like muddy oak water with a touch of carbonation. The nose is weak: touch of sweetness & port. Makes sense.
Zipline Port Aged Barleywine tastes like…barleywine. Plenty of alcohol found here, along with a solid sweetness cut by aggressive hopping. Port? Perhaps a shadow in the sweetness, but disappointed that my favorite non-beer alcohol is essentially MIA. Vaguely fruity, very sweet, moderately hoppy, one could look in the dictionary under “average barleywine” & see this pictured. The bomber should be shared among 4-5 people to avoid it wearing out its welcome.
Not a bad beer, but a far cry from what I was hoping. A sliver above average.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
