A: Pours a clear medium to dark copper in color with moderate amounts of active visible carbonation rising from the bottom of the glass and moderate dark golden yellow + burnt orange colored highlights. The beer has a three finger tall dense foamy light beige head that slowly reduces to a large patch of thick film covering the entire surface of the beer with a thick ring at the edges of the glass. Moderate amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Moderate to strong aromas of citrus/orange, citrus/grapefruit, and dank pine/resin hops over the top of moderate aromas of sweet caramel malts.

T: Upfront there is a slightly stronger than moderate flavors of toasted + caramel malts with a moderate amount of caramel + turbinado (raw sugar) sweetness. That is followed by slightly stronger than moderate flavors of citrus/orange, citrus/grapefruit, and dank pine/resin hops which contribute a moderate amount of bitterness which lingers for a short amount of time.

M: Medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Crisp upfront with a light amount of slickness mid-body and a hint of dryness in the finish.

O: As someone that enjoys a well made DIPA, this beer does not disappoint - easy to drink with well hidden alcohol and very enjoyable. Really enjoyable combination of hop flavors + aromas over the top of a solid malt body with enough sweetness to balance out the bitterness of the hops.

 

 

 

 

 

Nice orange brew with an off white to tan head that fades and leaves a few spots of lacing. This beer smells like oranges, pine, sweet malt and caramel. The taste is the same. The caramel and orange is fantastic with the nice pine finish. Great DIPA.

Poured into snifter with one fingers worth of head, dissipating quickly with only faint lacing confined to the edges. Can is dated as exactly one week old (2/16/17). Deep orange/copper appearance - a classic DIPA look, instantly recognizable. Aroma is a little cat piss and orange hard candy. Taste is creamy with very low carbonation. Full mouthfeel, but not cloying. Bitterness is minimal, restrained, while sweetness is about average for the style. This is a slightly more sweet than bitter DIPA, but I wouldn't characterize it as "juicy". Admittedly, this isn't my favorite style of beer, but I don't know what this particular beer brings to the table that we haven't seen a million times before. In the buy/try/die rating system, I'd suggest trying this, or buying if you're a DIPA junkie and can't help yourself.
