Appearance: Arrives pitch black with a thin tan cap that fades to a ringlet; a few wisps of lace
Smell: Orange juice concentrate with chocolate and black bread tones
Taste: The orange juice concentrate bursts like Tang on the tongue with the chocolate and black bread adding flavors through the middle; some citrusy bitterness emerges in the finish but the orange flavor still dominates; a vague earthiness in the aftertaste
Mouthfeel: Full bodied with moderate carbonation but not as think as one would expect for 14%; warmth in the gullet
Overall: A good beer and an interesting variant (I was told the mushroom intensifies the orange while adding an earthy flavor) but a little too angular for my palate; I would rather the Imperial Stout flavors were bolder
