The Scout Series, BA Impy Stout, 8/18
Pours a fizzy tan head with low retention, little lacing, decent legs, pitch black color
Nose big roasted dark malts, roast, dark chocolate and a bit of cocoa, coffee, lots of baking spices and anise, event a bit fudgey, hot cocoa, some vanilla oak and vanilla spice, even a bit of wood dust, maybe a touch of sweet caramel bourbon but hard to tell
Taste brings more rich dark malts and dark chocolate, cocoa, fudge, chocolate ganache, thick chewy like, some roast and dark coffee but not much, plenty of vanilla with vanilla spice and vanilla oak, baking spices and a touch of anise again, even a hint smoky, a bit of bitterness from roast and touch of spicy hop, a little char, caramel candy, slight smooth alcohol, drier finish, lingering spicy hop bitterness and roast
Mouth is fuller bod, rich chewy thick and a bit lush, med to lower carb, a touch of warming alcohol
Overall pretty nice, decent barrel, good stout, not sure what type of barrel but not much character other than the barrel so no real whiskey etc, nice baking spices, fudgey dark chocolate, etc, good beer
