ozo is pretty special coffee, but i have had better beers with it. this one promised the most and delivered the least of the beers i had here. i wanted much more from this one, although it is still excellent beer. it has a lighter brown color, more brown ale/porter range than stout with coffee. the head is thick and lasting though, and it appears clear of yeast remains. the nose and taste are the same, vanilla almost not present there at all, but the coffee bringing nice earth tones, espresso, minerals, maple, charred wood, its all there. the malt base isnt quite big enough for the flavors though, i want some oats or something in here for body, and maybe a little more bitterness from the coffee or from roasted barley to cut the sweet elements. the feel therefore is thin and unfulfilling, although the flavor of this beer is pretty nice. one thing that makes it cool is that its light enough to have a whole bunch of, not usually the case with coffee stout. i had fun with this one, although its not the best use of coffee, especially this coffee, which i hold in extremely high regard.

On tap at the brewery. I laughed when my friend said this 5.6% beer seemed heavier than the imperial brown but then I tasted it. Maybe it was the nitro or the sweetness but this really fills your mouth and coats the tongue. Aroma was mild coffee but the flavor was more vanilla than coffee. Too sweet for me.
