22oz into a pint
A - Pours a dark orange color. Lots of frothy white head, lacing galore. Very clear.
S - A light citrus hop nose combined with a strong malty sweetness. More malty than I think most AIPAs would be. Deeper inhaling reveals some more earthy hop notes.
T - Starts off lightly malty, citrus hops and a hint of a grainy backdrop. Lemon makes an appearance as well, complementing the citrus. Juniper berries sneak in, adding a fairly balanced while fruity flavor. Finishes with more juniper flavors and a hint of random other spicies.
M - A full bodied beer, moderate to light carbonation. Comes off a bit hefty, sugary and sweet. The alcohol is well hidden.
O/D - If you are looking for an American IPA, you probably will be disappointed here. THis beer has a more unique build to it from the lemon and juniper.

Enjoyable and drinkable IPA. It didn't stand out amidst the other IPAs I've had recently, but definitely worth trying!

Not sure why Citrum is listed as 'retired' - it most certainly is not retired. It's one of Bru's flagship beers, and it's excellent.

On tap at the brewery and described as an American IPA. Orange yellow color, soapy head. Aroma was mildly hoppy. Flavor started out sort of grainy and then finished pretty bitter. Overall I wasn't impressed and I really don't think I'd order this again.

Bottle number 341/396. Label lists ingredients as: malted barley, chinook & cascade hops, fresh lemon zest, juniper berries, american ale yeast, patience, passion, & a whole lot of love. Invitation to receive the recipe via e-mail from the brewer. Label also says "never filtered. naturally carbonated."
Poured into stemmed goblet (from Upslope). Large head with fine bubbles on a slightly cloudy copper body. Scent is clean fresh hops -- citrus, maybe orange.
First sip: lighter bodied, lighter flavored than I expected from the scent. A little bitter, a little sour, with a grainy finish.
Later sips: Let's call it medium bodied. Not as big or bold as some other Colorado IPAs. The hop/citrus bite dissipates quickly. Much less aggressive than expected. It's nice for a toned-down version of an IPA, if that's what you like. More quaffable than its more powerful cousins. Might pair with something savory but not overpowering, like roast chicken.
A strange concotion. Starts like an IPA, but ends up being much milder. Probably not something I'd reach for.
