light and summery and easy, my first new one from these guys in a hot minute, and its nice beer, maybe even more mild in flavor overall than anticipated, but they get the right elements together in a satisfying way, and overall this hits pretty nice for the season. rather light blonde colored from the tap and just off from fully clear, nice rising white head on it, visibly high carbonation, as excited as this sort of thing should be. the aroma is tight when its first poured and ice cold, subtle german pils malt to me, a little doughy and less baked, not quite raw but a lighter and more earthy end of this grain spectrum, quite light on the hops and with subtle yeast character to me, lager-like, less fruity than some of these, but this is mellow and fresh and rightly grain driven, light as it is. there are some citrus notes in the flavor, maybe not just noble hops in here, lemongrass and not quite ripe green melon come out, lemon and lime, no real bitterness but this is balanced anyway, more bite would be out of place. its nice and dry, the grain is clean but distinctive, the best part of this along with the zesty zippy mouthfeel. proofing dough, clover, and wet stone-like minerality are here late, and this one is a real drinker, an easy and delightful beer to make an afternoon out of. a little bit outside of the hoppy i stuff i most know and love from these guys, but the quality is there and its different enough to stand out while still be squarely within what is expected in this style, well done.
