As a longtime Bend resident living near Worthy Brewing, I’ve enjoyed the restaurant a few times in the past — the food has been decent, and while the service has usually been average, I’ve appreciated having it as a local option. Unfortunately, my recent visit on Saturday, September 6th, was disappointing and upsetting, especially because it involved a rare outing with my 82-year-old grandmother, who has severe arthritis and difficulty walking.

We parked on the patio side of the building and, to avoid making my grandmother walk all the way around, my husband asked a server if we could come in through the side gate. The server allowed us in but said we still needed to go inside to the host stand to request a table. I seated my grandmother outside while my husband went inside. Despite there being only a handful of occupied tables, he waited nearly 30 minutes without being greeted or helped at the host stand. When he finally flagged someone down and expressed his frustration, the interaction unfortunately turned combative rather than empathetic, and the situation escalated unnecessarily.

By the time menus were brought to us, the demeanor of the staff felt unfriendly and unwelcoming. After another 20 minutes without drink or food service, and given the uncomfortable atmosphere, we felt we had no choice but to leave — something I deeply regret, as it cut short a rare chance to spend time out with my grandmother.

I share this feedback not out of anger, but in the hope it can be constructive. Restaurants are often understaffed, and I understand that employees may be under pressure. But hospitality is about making guests feel cared for, and in this case, we felt ignored, dismissed, and unwelcome. A manager’s presence, more proactive communication, and a touch of empathy would have made all the difference.

I hope Worthy Brewing can take this experience as an opportunity to revisit its service training and management presence. The space is beautiful, and the community wants to support local establishments — but consistent hospitality is essential to keep neighbors like us coming back.

I was there shortly after they opened and there was a TV crew filming their opening. The facility is beautiful, and the long bar is also great. When I was there the service was great, though not a large crowd. Found out that the owner is a big fan of the movie "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" and when they demolished the State Mental Hospital he went to the site and salvaged a lot of material to build the brewery. I really like their brews and the food was decent.

Modernish brewpub in the back of a shopping area on the east side of town. Long straight bar perpendicular to the entrance seats about 15 with plenty of tables and booths inside and a patio along the west side of the building. 11 beers on tap. Friendly bartender. I did not try the food.

Stopped here for an after lunch pint with my wife and friends. We sat indoors. They did have an outdoor area. Neither was very large. They had maybe 8 taps. Bar service only, I think. Beer was fine but not really exciting. I wouldn't avoid going back, but it wouldn't be my first choice.

IMO the worst beers in Bend...great location with an open patio and observatory with decent food. Beers lack in complexity and variety.

Great selection of beers. In spite of being away from most of Bend`s other breweries, this place fills up rather quickly. Outdoor beer garden seating area is excellent. The Hopservatory is a neat attraction that helps the place stand out. Food was excellent. Staff was friendly.

Worthy was the second stop on my trip to Bend this weekend. This is my second annual pilgrimage and hopefully over the next couple of years I'll get all the Bend breweries visited.

I really like Worthy. Inside, it's all new construction but it still has a great industrial vibe to it. The place was a madhouse when I visited (4th of July weekend, what are you gonna do?), but they were well-staffed and service was friendly and efficient. I had the Cobb salad (in this heat wave, fried stuff just wasn't going to work) and it was tasty and well-presented.

They have 11 beers on tap, plus a guest cider. I had the gose and the saison, both of which hit the spot for me. Worthy does not appear to get a lot of love on BA, but I think they're not bad at all.

The beer was just okay; nothing stood out for the better. Great patio, but it's ruined by the throngs of children running around and climbing on everything like a McDonald's Playland.

This was stop #30 for my wife and I on a 21-day pub-crawl from Michigan to N. CA and OR. We stopped here on a Tuesday to enjoy their beers and to have lunch. The brewery is a new, modern-style building that is located adjacent to a large retail shopping area on the east side of Bend. A hop farm with a greenhouse is situated next to the building and the parking lot. The interior of the pub is almost sterile feeling because of the large use of metal and glass, but some wood trim along with the wooden tables and the bar tone it down a bit.

We sat at the bar and ordered a sampler flight of 6 beers along with our food. All of the beers are brewed to style, and some of them had extra tweaks from the brewer to put them farther above average. The notable one to us was the Eruption Imperial Red Ale, which was quite nicely hopped. Kudos to the brewer. Our food was also very good, so kudos to the chef too. We likes this brewery and would go back again when in the area.

Worthy is a fairly new establishment, but you can tell they threw millions into it to get this 30 BBL outfit going.

They get enough patrons that they are expanding already, they were busy when we were there so service was a little slow, the food was good but the beer was (IMHO) just that beer, nothing that I would say wow I'll go back for that, and I probably won't.

It seemed like all the beers from the pale ale to the imperial IPA had the same basic formula to them from flavor to color.

I believe they have a good thing going and do wish them well, I would like them to up their game in the brewing department though.
