Limited Release - Oak Aged with Brett
Brewed with dark roasted wheat malts and a saison yeast. This Complex beer underwent a secondary Brett fermentation with toasted oak. The result is an ale that starts with spicy, tart, and roasted flavors and finishes dry with hints of oak and bourbon.

Tasted 12 July 2015.
Pours very dark, nearly black, and opaque. Deep brown at the edges. One finger of grey-brown head, good retention, okay lacing. Not a typical saison, but the label told me that.
Smell is woody and rich, more like a porter than anything else. The darkness comes through with a little char, accompanied by some smoke. Nice, but not what I was expecting. I struggle to pick up any saison characteristics.
Taste is an odd amalgam. It has those dark elements up front, and it’s chock full of wood. But then it tilts toward a sort of Belgiany sweetness and fullness. Like pulpy fruit. It’s unique, that’s for sure. Every time I try to latch onto a flavor, it’s quickly replaced by something completely different, and I’m left feeling amnesiac. Weird, but really interesting. It’s high up on my list of beers packing the most varied flavors into one mouthful.
Feel is a highlight. Full-bodied, but prickly with carbonation. It dances, then pokes me with needles, then dances some more. Very nice.
A unique, and overall quite delicious beer. It took some adjusting, as the flavors are so all over the place. But now I’m really digging it.
