a hibiscus and black currant sour, a nice beer, my first from these guys. even though it isnt much to look at, hazy in my experience with it, and not overly heady from the tap with just a slight pink hue to it, looks more like a wheat beer, its very flavorful, not too sour to be drinkable, and neat with the extra ingredients, a cool combination. the beer is just ever so slightly raw to me, in need of a little bit of polishing, but its a nice recipe and a beer with some high appeal i think, at least as sours go. the currant adds some tang to the relatively clean lacto souring profile this has, nice with the wheat too, some body and some grounding cereal malt character. there are also notes of blackberry and blueberry in this to me, some light fruit tannins and even a vinous element as well. the acidity is middle of the road, with a lemon note, but its fast finishing and balanced. the hibiscus isnt overdone, its tea-like, floral, and mild, good with the currant and not at all perfumy like it can sometimes be. i wish it were filtered or cleaned up just a little bit, there is some heft to this that doesnt fit the flavors super well, if it were lighter in that way, it would really sing. carbonation is there though, and the flavors here are nice. i wish i had time to check this place out when i was in seattle, next time for sure!
