Poured into a Samuel Smith pint glass. Pours a lightly hazy, medium to dark coppery amber with a quarter finger white head with great retention and solid lacing. Aroma of biscuit malt, grassy and mixed fruit hops, dry grass, mixed light tropical fruit and orange; lightly spicy. Flavor is biscuit malt, grassy and mixed fruit hops, dry grass, mixed tropical fruit, grapefruit and orange. Assertive grapefruit rind finishing bitterness. Medium bodied with moderate creaminess; nice mouth feel. An interesting hybrid ESB, with the expected English biscuit malt body and a combination of grassy and fruit hops. The hops used are apparently being used in England to create North American style fruit flavors from domestically grown hops. The result is quite nice. Neither hop seems to have dry grassiness as part of its reported profile, but I'm tasting it here along with vague, but interesting mixed fruit flavors of which grapefruit and orange are the most identifiable. It looks great and has a wonderful mouth feel. I liked it quite a bit.
