A 7 year old producing this high quality a quad is a feat. And I wish I'd bought more from Beer Drop because this quad is suitable for a fete. But as tonight's dessert, I'll take it.

Quads are difficult to brew. Using brewers sugar is difficult to control. It produces the dark fruit medley that we maltheads yearn for. But what is more difficult is to prevent it from becoming too sweet. Hops help balance. But in the final analysis, the brewer has to manage well the yeast/sugar relationship at the point of bottling so that the quad lasts and the tastes meld over time. That is difficult to tell for me since my can is dated 3/23/21.

So, all I can tell you is: drink this Quad young.
P.S. It would not surprise me if this Quad also is good a year old... maybe two. TBD.

My first from De Steeg, I owe them a micro-review. But they have not heard the last of me. In reviewing their website (probably too basic even for a 7 year old), I see that they are dedicated to figuring out the Belgian Tradition. (Extra OA Hugs for that). I am so impressed and somewhat mystified by how a mid-sized city (Denver) in the middle of a great continent (of 550 million people) that is quite far from Belgium (with less than 10 million) can still audaciously think that it produce an ale culture even close to Belgium. Denver hasn't yet; but it is on its way.

When I order from Beer drop again (next week), De Steeg is near the top of my list.
