This light and bright farmhouse ale was brewed with sunflowers grown and harvested on our property and fermented with our wild house culture. The leaves and stalks were used for bittering and the seeds were dried and toasted in our hearth oven before being added to the fermenter for a distinctive toasty finish.

WARNING: this one is a gusher, even let it warm for a few minutes, clearly should have done more! Murky orange body with a finger of fluffy cream foam. Smell is more toasty than anything, with grass, flower stalks, flower petals, burnt caramel, chickory, earthy seeds, lemon zest, and some botanical tartness, as usual with scratch is it strange but it works. Taste is much more bitter, huge botanical bitters, so much dirt, toast, and earth, strange and doesn't work, tarter kiss on end just doesn't jive. Feel is hearty for style, chewy, botanically driven and sneaky heavy. Weird, don't need to have again but certainly memorable

A: Pale gold, white head that sticks around, fairly clear
S: Toasted malt, floral, hint of citrus, anise, sweet, mustard seed, musty
T: Toasted malt, sweet bread, earthy, floral, anise, herbal bitterness comes out as it warms
M: Light/medium body, medium carbonation
O: Very unique with the aroma continually evolving. The malt provides a very strong base for the other interesting notes to play on
