Poured from 750 mL bottle into snifter.
A: Pours a super dark brown with 1-2 inch bubbly tan head that recedes fairly quickly. Not much light emerges with backlighting. (4)
S: Herbs, spices, and dark dried fruit hit all at once. Sorting this out...dates are definitely present, dark caramel malt, cinnamon, and allspice. Quite intoxicating. (4)
T: Cinnamon, brown sugar, dark caramel malt, sweet dates, allspice, and a hint of ginger. Interesting...complex...and it actually works. With warming, a note of dark honey emerges. (4.25)
M: Dark, moderately heavy body, super smooth, and nicely sweet. ABV is extremely well hidden...careful, this one is 9.7%. Lingers nicely on the palate...especially the spices. (4.25)
D: I wasn't sure what to expect with this one...and I was a bit skeptical. But, wow, this one won me over. Basically this is what every hum-drum winter spiced ale wishes they could be. This would be a solid digestif (or apéritif for that matter) offering for Thanksgiving or Christmas. (4.5)

Due Date pours a dark brown color with a nice big fluffy lacing tan head. There is a nice sweet spicy aroma, with good fruit notes. The taste is nice and complex, nice spice note, and a nice mellow sweetness from the dates are also noticeable. Good flavors, nice blend of flavors, but the body is a little flat. Overall its a complex beer, with some great flavors, not overpowering, but comes nicely together.
