A very new direction for Left Field - a kettle soured ale with hibiscus.
Pours pinkish red. The nose is very lacto heavy- yogurty sour scents. Not bad but one dimensional. Taste is similar, with a hibiscus flavour added. Quite sour- very tart. Nice mouthfeel- sparkly and refreshing.
It's nice to see Left Field branch out and try something new, and I hope they keep doing so, but this one is not quite a winner. The lacto is not balanced by anything. I like sour beers and am happy to drink this, but it is not a notable or complex beer.
