A prospect is a rising talent whose skills are too great to ignore. They are a natural team player, chosen for their distinctive abilities. The same can be true of a standout hop amongst a beer’s roster of ingredients. In that spirit, we are proud to bring you Prospect, our single hop IPA series. Each batch is brewed using the same malt recipe and showcases a unique hop for its individual characteristics.

Left Field Brewery’s DDH Single Hop IPA. 6.7% alc.

The beer has a thick white head that dies off quickly.

The beer itself is a hazy light golden colour. There beer has lots of ascending bubbles and quite a bit of chunky sediment.

The smell is melon and citrus and it’s somewhat subdued.

The taste is pine from the hops.

The mouth feel is effervescent yet kind of smooth. The beer itself is light to medium bodied.

The finish tart and refreshing.

I’m really impressed with this beer and recommend trying it if you enjoy the style.

Slightly hazy gold under a moderate head. Settles to a film. Lots of yeast suspended and collected on the bottom of the glass. Citrus nose, grapeffuif and orange, some apricot. Appetizing, not overpoweringly. Softly bitter and dry on the palate. Grapefruit flavour dominates. Pleasantly hoppy and interesting to drink.

Can: Poured a hazy yellow color ale with a large slightly off-white foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of citrus and juicy hops with some green leafy hops notes is super enjoyable. Taste is also a great mix of juicy citrusy hops notes with light dryness, some floral undertones and green leafy hops notes with some light residual sugar notes. Body is full with some hops residue and good carbonation. Super enjoyable IPA.

Oh, my goodness, but this is lovely. It really is!
I was not expecting a lot, based on the ratings, but this is nice in most every way. Yes, it is peppery dry and you may end up yearning for water but the taste is a nice citrus-hop mix, with a delicately yummy nose. A bit too pale, but let that be the worst thing that happens to your beer.
I will absolutely buy this again. Nice can as well (no, not you, Sir!).

Pours cloudy blond with a moshpit of yeast particles flying around the many carbonation streams. A big bubbly head coats the glass in lace. The aroma is of apricot, berries, citrus, some earthiness - hops only pretty much. Tropical fruit Simcoe flavors dominate in the taste. Meek bready malts in the background. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. High bitterness and some astringency in the long finish.

A nice, super hoppy IPA. A bit coarse in the bitterness, but still really good.

355 ml can served cold into a tulip. LCBO purchase for something south of $3 CDN. Canning date of September 14, 2018.

Appearance - Hazy, pale golden color with peach coloured hues. Two fingers of off-white head form and plenty of sticky lacing leaves streaks in a curtain pattern.

Smell - Citrus all the way with pineapple and orange being most prominent with some grapefruit mixed in. Some softer stone fruit aromas and pomegranate (I think). Subtle weediness at the back end of the the bouquet.

Taste - Middling bitterness, slight mineral aspect to the beer before a big citrus explosion erupts. Orange and moreso grapefruit lead the way with some fruity sweetness of pineapple and cantaloupe in behind.

Mouthfeel - Crisp and biting carbonation, with some stickiness one the palate and a dry finish. An IPA done well.

Overall - Left Field gives yet another Prospect to consider when regarding some of the better IPA's in Ontario and this holds up under the scrutiny. Worth a try for all hopheads.
