Got this one from the LCBO this past summer

From a 355ml can into a snifter
Canned 4 June 2019
Pina Colada smoothie NEIPA
Brewed with pineapple, coconut, lactose and vanilla

APPEARANCE: Pours out slightly hazy and yields a small, foamy white head with very good retention. Cloudy gamboge orange with no carbonation evident. Head recedes to a faint wisp and clings to the glass. A splotchy wisp remains until the end leaving decent lacing down the glass as it empties. A little less hazy than Greenwood.

SMELL: More of a muted nose here. Some vanilla and coconut, some faint tropical fruit notes as well, like pineapple and mango, with slight hints of wheat on the nose. Decent but not overly forthcoming.

TASTE: Taste is better, and pretty much resembles a pina colada. Coconut, vanilla and caramel sweetness up front, with some wheat malt in there too. Bold finish of pina colada flavors, vanilla and coconut, with some tropical fruits and a touch of hop bitterness lingering on the palate. Good.

PALATE: Medium body and medium carbonation. Creamy on the palate, goes down smooth and finishes a bit dry. Good feel here.

OVERALL: This is alright. The idea is great and the flavors worked out for the most part, but the look is a little less than cloudy for the style and the nose comes across as if everything together kind of cancels everything out. Love the idea but perhaps the next batch will work out a little more aromatic. Still worth drinking if you’re a coconut fan.

Review from notes. $4.50 CDN for a 355 ml can. Steep price, but Left Field has been doing a damn good job on their IPA's.

Appearance - Hazy, murky yellowy gold color. A small white head rests on top annd fizzles out quickly. Lots of sediment in the glass too.

Smell - Pineapple and coconut are prevalent here but overall not terribly aromatic.

Taste - A bit of pineapple, lots of coconut and enough pervasive bitterness at the end to rightfully call itself an IPA.

Mouthfeel - Smooth, creamy and dense with appropriate carbonation. Certainly milkshake or smoothie like which is what they were going for.

Overall - WHIP Pina Colada is a reasonably well executed beer (the aromatics could be amped up just a bit), however, it's not my favorite combo for beer drinking and the price is steep. So it will be a beer that I'm glad to have tried, but unlikely to go back and purchase more. One of the weaker entries in the Left Field IPA lineup.

Hazy pineapple juice yellow under a firm white head. Settles to a part film, some spotty lace. Aroma of pineapple, very basic. Tastes good though. Pineapple, coconut, touch of hoppy bitterness. Enjoyably fruity. A proper summer drink, I think. Drinkable.

No idea why this is labelled Pina Colada. You add pineapples to beer and it magically turns into a tropical drink?
Decent pour, a nice enough head that disappears and a non-descript nose (maybe coconuts?) that gives way to the enriched flavour of, you guessed it, pineapples! And there IS some coconut flavour indeed! Well, I'll be damned.
But does it work? It does, but only enough not to toss it. Guess it's worth the try, but definitely not the money. $4.50 for a 355mL local (Toronto) beer at 6% Abv? Seriously? Belgian La Chouffe is $3.60 at 8% and it's....La Chouffe!
Anyway, go ahead and pick one up, see if you like it.

Body is, well, opaque golden pineapple juice, freshly squeezed and unfiltered. Capped by an angel-white head, that grows full, but drifts away to a thin layer in a minute or two.
Fresh pineapple leads the aroma, along with sense of other tropical fruit like mango and passion fruit. Pine hops as well.
Flavour is an underwhelming follow-up. Not bad tasting, but not exciting, with the fruit notes lacking vibrancy. The pineapple is there, and nectarine, with pine hop bitterness building intensity through the finish, dry and long. Of coconut, there is no sign. Medium body and carbonation, clean tasting.

This doesn't leave me dreaming of pina coladas...it's an above average IPA, but not exciting or distinct.
