Ever since I started my Certified Beer Server course, I have really wanted to try an English Bitter. I started learning about the different styles and came across it and knew it was something I would like. You don’t find many of them down under, so let’s have a look.

Strong Bitter
5.1%
Clear, copper to dark gold and looking particularly drinkable in the British Imperial style pint glass and a wet day. A great looking collar as well, forming quickly and tightly knit and to a minimum, as it should be for this style. Clearly defined aromas of earthy Fuggle hops. A bit of a toffee or caramel there as well but not much. I let this warm up a tad before drinking to bring out the flavours.
A touch spicy, moderately sweet and a fair amount of bitterness, perfect. Malt caramel sweetness and a bitter taste without tasting too much of hops. The hops are more accented by the bitterness bringing a great balance. Malt driven with a medium body and dry finish.
If you have not tried an English Strong Bitter before, get onto it. It is a great style and deserves your attention.
Cheers
