On tap at the pub – 02/28/14 Standard Pint glass
Listed as a 4.8% ABV Milk Stout aged on Cocoa Nibs
A: Dark chocolate brown body with layers of cascading gas that settle to a silky smooth khaki cream whip on top. Ultimate hang time with chunky masses that never fully subside. Broken rings of lace are left clinging to the glass after each sip.
S: Smells like a melted milk chocolate candy bar! Think malted milk balls. The cocoa nibs are fairly well pronounced here. I get a soft roast barley backing with coffee noted and some toasted oats/cereals. Touch of mineral water. All in all very nice and delectably chocolaty.
T: Tastes of chocolate and toasted oats with some subtle roast coffee bean and faint charcoal. It has a nice residual sweetness from the lactose lending to some decent body and it really is like a liquid candy bar. Chocolate milk almost. I get a mild earthy hop bitterness and the beer is without a trace of any alcohol. Nice drying on the finish. This is an incredibly nice quaff. So much good flavor for such a little brew.
M: The feel is a creamy wonder. Soft and lush on the palate with a mild hop bitterness and a nice drying lift at the finish. The body is a touch thinner than desired as it gets a little watered down at times.
D: This is a great sessions stout with loads of chocolate flavor and no harsh roast notes. Very well balanced. Only wished for a touch more body but still tasty none the less. Perfect for making the long drive out here.
