Type: Draft
Glass: 16-oz. pint glass
From: Alpine Beer Company in Alpine, Calif.
Price: $6.00
Purchased: May 27, 2015
Consumed: May 27, 2015
Misc.: Tried on release day
Poured a golden, straw, murky color with two fingers of off-white, rocky head when I received it. Great amount of layered foamy lacing on the sides of the glass. Above average retention. (Sight - 4.00)
Smell was the best part. Right away could tell it was dry-hopped, kind of reminding of some combination of their Nelson, Duet and San Diego Surprise. Also got Mosaic, Citra, floral and some Simcoe. (Smell - 4.25)
First taste was magnificent, although I still might have been riding high because of the nose. Initially reminded me of a watered down combo of Nelson or Duet. Mosaic still seems to be No. 1 here. Also Citra, grapefruit rind, faint nectarine rind, tropical hops and mango, all with the dry-hopped backbone. The third sips and beyond didn’t follow the first. (Taste - 3.75)
Light-to-medium body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Abrupt, dry finish. (Feel - 3.50)
This beer has a ton of potential, but I think it’s missing a potent punch late of some kind. Still would have it again for sure. (Overall - 3.75)
