Type: 32-oz. growler
Glass: Lagunitas mason jar
From: Alpine Beer Company Tasting Room in Alpine, Calif.
Price: $7.50
Purchased: Jan. 5, 2016
Consumed: Jan. 5, 2016
Misc.: Reviewed on release day
Poured a dark golden, pale, clear color with about three fingers of offwhite, frothy head. Lots of bubbles coming up from the bottom of the glass at different points. Average-to-above average spotty lacing on the sides. Average retention. (Sight - 4.00)
Smelled a big dose of hops and citrus fruits, getting Citra hops, Mosaic hops (I know it’s not in it), floral hops, faint resin hops, tropical hops, tangerine zest and some grapefruit. (Smell - 4.50)
Taste followed the nose nicely, although not quite as good. Got Citra hops, light Mosaic hops, resin hops, bitter tangerine rind, tropical hops, mango, grapefruit pulp, some pineapple and floral hops. (Taste - 4.00)
Medium-to-light body. Thin-to-oily texture. Lively carbonation. Abrupt finish. (Feel - 4.00)
This was a very good beer. I plan on trying every hop variety from Singled Out, but I don’t know if any will beat this one. Maybe Mosaic? (Overall - 4.25)
