Somewhat of Scotch/Wee Heavy fan and this one sounded good. Not sure if Alpine has done something like this, but I’m sure it would be good.
Poured an auburn, clear color with 3-to-4 fingers khaki, white fizzy head. No bubbles underneath the head. Good amount of thick, uneven lacing on the sides of the glass. Good retention on the top all the way down. (Sight - 4.25)
Smelled booziness up front, followed by toffee, caramel, earthy gritty malts and some roasted rye. Couldn’t decipher much else, but it grew on me as it went down. (Smell - 4.00)
Taste followed the nose with thick, toasted caramel and toffee, some buttery malts, dark butterscotch, earthy malts, kind of reminding me of McIlhenney’s Irish Red in some regards, molasses and brown sugar. (Taste - 4.25)
Medium body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Smooth finish. (Feel - 4.00)
This was just very nice, but it might be me more just enjoying the style instead of the beer. Dug it though. (Overall - 4.00)
