Grapefruit Massacre is a 6.7% grapefruit IPA. We stuffed our hop back with ruby red and white grapefruit and zested the whirlpool. The beer is dry-hopped heavily with Comet, Citra, Mosaic and Simcoe.

Went out to Alpine for maybe the last time because of Green Flash ownership stuff, but was particularly interested in this beer. Was described as, “Grapefruit Massacre is a 6.7% grapefruit IPA. We stuffed our hop back with ruby red and white grapefruit and zested with whirlpool. The beer is dry-hopped heavily with Comet, Citra, Mosaic and Simcoe.” This sounded much more complex than a simple grapefruit IPA and it had me really looking forward to try it.
Poured a gold, clear color with two fingers of frothy off-white head. Could see some light bubbles coming up from the bottom of the glass. World-class spiderweb lacing. Outstanding retention. (Sight - 4.25)
Smelled sharp grapefruit, spicy Simcoe, Citra, lime, citrus zest, grass and papaya. (Smell - 4.00)
Tasted spicy Simcoe, Citra, grapefruit pulp, berry, papaya, lime, citrus zest, mown grass and tangerine rind. (Taste - 3.75)
Medium body. Oily texture. Lively carbonation. Spicy, dry finish. (Feel - 3.75)
A very good IPA, but not as good as I was hoping. More like a stern talking to than a massacre. (Overall - 3.75)
