Glass: Clear shaker pint glass
From: Alpine Beer Company in Alpine, Calif.
Price: $3.00 (I think)
Purchased: Sept. 1, 2018
Consumed: Sept. 1, 2018
Reviewed as: New England IPA
Misc.: N/A
Drove out to Alpine to pick up some High Kicks bottles and to try this one, Alpine’s first hazy offering (I guess Nelson doesn’t count?) Only thing I knew about it going in was that it was Pacific Northwest and New Zealand hops. Was looking forward to it.
Poured a golden hazy color with three fingers of rocky off-white head. No bubbles on the sides of the glass. World-class layered foamy lacing. World-class retention. (Sight - 4.50)
Smelled floral, pineapple, orange blossom, stone fruit, tangerine, citrus zest and light mango. (Smell - 3.75)
Tasted maltier than I would’ve thought. Orange blossom, stone fruit, pineapple, pine, bitter orange rind, citrus zest, peppery spice, papaya and mango sorbet. (Taste - 3.75)
Medium body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Slightly bitter finish. (Feel - 4.25)
Very good, but I think I overrated it overall. (Overall - 3.75)
