On a recent trip to the U.S., Ryan hopped over to Vermont to visit Hill Farmstead and brew a hoppy blonde ale with a gentle kiss of tea; Works of Love. This is our interpretation of that very beer; Love of Work. Brewed with EarlGrey tea then dry hopped with Amarillo, Citra and Centennial.

Pours a hazy, dark amber colour, with a hint of copper. Smells mostly of sweet malts, with spicy and earthy hops. Tastes malt forward, buttery, bitter, citrus hops, and a nice bitterness from the tea. Hoppy, bitter, balanced, and interesting to do with the tea.

Hazy orange. Thin head.
Tropical fruit aroma.
Astringent bitter - from the (tea) tannin? Grass and pineapple.
Moderate feel. Cleanses the palate.
Very refreshing.

12oz bottle poured into a Hill Farmstead oversized wine glass.
A~ copper orange with a slight head and a little lacing.
S~ straight earl grey tea, grassy hops and some citrus probably from the tea.
T~ sadly less tea here. bitter hops, tea leaves and slight citrus. oranges, lemon, lime.
M~ nice carb but really dry bitterness.
O~ well i had to try this version and of course the HF version is better but it was still awesome to try! if you like tea and you see it around definitely pick one up!

The colour is cold yellow, the two finger white head is compact. Some lacing occurs.
The smell is sour-tart with salt and some sweetness. Tar, diesel and some floral notes.
The taste is quite light and dry. Molten autumn leaves, and a harsh light bitterness. Meat stock. Medium body. The aftertaste is harsh with green plants, wheat flour and dough. Mouldering leaves in the finish.
The carbonation is strong, the long-lived bubbles tickles the tongue. The liquid is semi-smooth.
I am an avid tea drinker, and I have always wondered how an Earl Grey beer should turn out. But this one was a harsh disappointment.
