Pours a very dark brown with a hint of red. There is basically no head, swirling does not really produce foam either. Nose is red wine, although some soft stout smells are in the background. Taste is also like a light fruity red wine, with some chocolate and dried fruits in the back from the stout. Very little carbonation. Overall, I would have liked to see bigger stout flavor and a bit more influence from the wood. The Shiraz grapes dominate. It is interesting, but needs some tweaking to be worth the price.

Look - 4.25 - Pours jet black and any initial bubbles quickly dissipate to no head at all. But you can see a dark ruby red at the edge of the top which is intriguing. I decided to look into the bottle after the final pour and noticed some dark black sludge which I shook with the remaining few drops to dissolve, and drank it out of the bottle - tasted good.
Smell - 4.0 - Smells like red grape must with a little apple and cherry juice tossed in. Sweetness is strong; there is no suggestion of a stout.
Taste - 4.25 - Tastes like un-carbonated grape musty cherry juice with a little apple juice and stout tossed in. The stout finally makes its presence known at the end as more of an aftertaste. The brett aspect is subdued - there is no tart or sour in this beer - it's all about the sweetness of the grapes and cherry.
Feel - 3.75 - Medium body, only a hint of carbonation. Not the type of beer that you really want in your mouth for all that long, unless of course, you're trying to write a beer review.
Overall - 4.0 - These ratings are arbitrary and generous. This beer fails as a stout, but succeeds as some sort of connoisseur's hybrid - but I'm not sure what sort of connoisseur. I drank it on Christmas Day evening (2015), after an IPA and then some red wine, over about 1.5 hours - it was the perfect time to drink this beer, and it was somewhat of a laborious task. You really don't want to do much more than sip this beer at a slow pace. It's an oddity that was worth a try; I'm glad I tried it and congratulate Siren for partnering with The Evening Brews on their creativity in putting this beer together. The last thing, and one that just must be considered, is that the "cover art" on the bottle is spectacular! It's a well thought out screen print directly on to the bottle that I'm tempted to save, but unfortunately will have to ditch to make room for some full bottles for the return trip across the pond back to Boston. Thanks guys!
