A 330ml bottle with a BB of Dec 2017. Acquired a while back from the Brewdog webshop. The label describes it as a ginger brown ale inspired by a soft drink from Costa Rica - ingredients include lemon, ginger and cane sugar.

A: Poured into a tulip. Bottle conditioned. A clear coppery-brownish colour with slight floating sediment and good carbonation. Produces a decent head of creamy off-white foam that lasts for a moment or two before collapsing to a patchy surface layer.

S: Aroma of spicy ginger with hints of mild caramel malt, subtle lemon, faint brown sugar, earthy yeast and a twinge of stewed leaves. An interesting ginger ale character.

T: Tastes of understated caramel malt with notes of ginger, mild lemon, earthy yeast, faint stewed leaves and a hint of brown sugar. Quite dry, with a relatively mild bitterness and a touch of spice upon swallowing.

M: Mouthfeel is smooth, tingly and dry, with spritzy carbonation and a somewhat thin, watery body. Slightly astringent. Aftertaste of subtle ginger, earthy yeast, mild caramel malt and faint stewed leaves.

O: OK but lacks depth. Looks alright, while the aroma and flavour are a subtle blend of caramel malt, earthy yeast, ginger, mild lemon and faint sugar. Average body; quite dry. In a way it resembles a highly attenuated soft drink, which I suppose is the idea, but it's just too watery and yeasty. Needs a better malt backbone to support the other flavours. An interesting idea that needs improved execution.
