330 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 5.5%. Hazy brownish-golden colour, small white head. Pleasant aroma of blueberries and fruity hops. The flavour is fruity with a slight "muffin" sweetness, notes of blueberries and moderate citrussy hops. Only a hint of coriander and vanilla. Not very bitter, but pleasant to drink.

440ml Can from Morrison's supermarket (£3):
Purple & translucent with amber tinges & a white, slightly patchy surface lacing for a head. The nose is lighter than expected, with a blueberry sweetness & a faint hop backing. I got mainly blueberries with the taste too, although there some citrus hops & faint vanilla show. It's very one-dimensional with a light, wet bod & a tiny bit of bitterness to finish but it was disappointing overall.

Pale ale
L3 Light pink, very little head
S3.75 Summer fruits, not huge nose
T4 Blueberry very unassuming, not bad
F4.25 Spot on - medium body, excellent carbonation.
O3.75 Looks can be deceiving. Nice alternative to typical IPAs/Pale Ales. Blueberry could have been overpowering but works well.

Look - thin translucent light brownish color, no head other than at the pour

Smell - had a little grain or sweet smell that was the blueberry, but otherwise pretty generic

Taste - thin and only slightly sweet, but almost tasted like a watered down version of what it was meant to be. I got some taste on the back end, but couldn't identify any vanilla or coriander.

Feel - thin and light

Overall - a huge disappointment. Sorry Siren but I've got to tell it as I see it and I'm sure there are folks who like this, but not me. While I've never had Great Notion's blueberry muffin beers, I was expecting a heavier, chunkier, sweeter "in your face" blueberry beer rather than a light delicate thing like this. My suggestion - add some Brett to the next batch and age it in some wood...think this base beer would be great in one of your wild formats. Cheers!

Note. After sitting for 30 minutes out of the fridge, the beer warmed and the taste improved a little - the beer kinda came into its own and I improved my ratings a half a point across the board, unfortunately not a lot though.

With Lervig in town we were always going to brew something a bit different and a bit indulgent. We settled on a blueberry muffin beer! Much Ado About Muffin is generous with the blueberries, accentuated by vanilla and balanced with coriander and some fruity hops.

Smells like a generic US pale ale tastes like a generic us pale (maybe due to icy cold keg)
