With more than 20 speciality malts, two separate mashes and three oak varieties, this is one of the most ambitious recipes we've ever attempted. Expect caramel, honey, nuttiness, chocolate, coffee and subtle smokiness all coming through with refined depth. Rich residual sugars balance with oak tannins to keep the beer drinkable, moreish and spectacularly flavoursome.

Pours a pitch-black coloration with a medium, creamy, moccha-colored head. Smells of roasted, caramel malt, some chocolate and hints of coffee and licorice, as well as some distinct woody accents. Taste is a great balance of roasted, caramel malt, strong milk chocolate and lighter coffee, licorice and brown sugar, as well as some tobacco and distinct woody accents, with hints of oak and cedar wood. Finishes bittersweet, with a light bitterness and some chocolate, brown sugar and woody accents lingering in the aftertaste. Full mouthfeel with a rich body and light/medium carbonation.
Gawd, I really haven't been able to grab a proper Imperial Stout in way too long and this certainly fits the bill very nicely, with quite a strong depth of character and rich body and mouthfeel. While it's just a tad too sweet and boozy for my personal taste, it's really not that bad and there still a great balance of sweet and roasted, slightly bitter notes going on here, with the milk chocolate and brown sugar being most pronounced, but being balanced by the coffee, licorice and tobacco, while those woody accents really add a certain complexity here. Overall, this makes for a very enjoyable, quite warming, rich and satisfying Imperial Stout that is best sipped slowly in front of a roaring fireplace.

Pours entirely black in color with a stable, mohagony colored head.
Smells of chocolate cake dough, caramel and toasted hazelnuts among dried leaves and a note of meaty wood smoke.
Has a velvet, creamy mouthfeel, showcasing the complex body of this perfectly, altough the beer tends to get quite hot during its finish.
Tastes of milk chocolate, woodfire, burned oak and calming whipped cream, with a spicy licorice quality settling in. Has a truly creamy middle part with toasty malts and licorice shining throuh, which gets distracted by a warm, almost hot boozy edge after the swallow. Finishes sweet, with loads of caramel coming up and a remaining booziness, as well as late oak, earth and matured hops.
This could be fantastic, as this features a world class mouthfeel, which unfortunately gets distracted by the higher abv in this, ruining the balance of the beer pretty much.
