Pours tire black with a huge, dark brown, stable head.
Smells of roasted coffee, red currants, bakers chocolate and a whiff of wet earth.
Has a light and refreshing mouthfeel and a distractingly prominent sourness, which makes this hardly balanced.
Tastes of a pukey sourness from the very beginning, pretty much overruling anything else in this. There is some bitter chocolate, matured, dry hops, as well as a subtle coffee roastiness in this, which all get numbed by the artificial, disruptive sourness of the beer. Finishes with some char, lighter red currants, molasses and a prevailing, inexorable sourness.
Full disclaimer: I do like sour beers and I like it when a coffee infused dark beer produces a certain tartness. This is not what you‘ll be finding in this. The acidity in the beer feels over the top, artificial, unbalanced and unpleasant. This is hard to finish.
